The Love Movement during one of their many performances.

The Love Movement’s production Love Notes will include its three choirs in concerts at Queen’s Hall, St Ann’s and features music from Disney’s The Little Mermaid and Abba.

The children’s choir, Lights of Love and the Republic Bank Youth Outreach Group, will present the internationally—acclaimed The Little Mermaid Jr. The 60-minute musical adapted for young voices, is based on the 2008 Broadway production and the 1989 animated feature film.

Ninety performers, under the musical direction of Bernadette Scott, will include hit songs such as Part of Your World, Under the Sea and She’s In Love.

The second half will feature the Republic Bank Love Movement Youth Group and the senior choir with the popular and much-loved music of ABBA.

The youth will also be performing Katie Perry’s hit song Roar. The senior choir will then take the audience on a journey down memory lane with excerpts from Broadway musicals. The production will be under the expert drama direction of Dr Helmer Hilwig, with sets and costumes designed by Brian Mac Farlane of Mac Farlane Design Studios, along with exciting choreography by the extremely talented Franchesca Williams-Vazzana.

The technical team will include Franklin Agarrat as sound engineer, Celia Wells as lighting designer, Marlon Francois as stage manager and with special effects by Fire One Fireworks and Soundvision Ltd.

All proceeds from the concerts will be used to help maintain the ongoing youth outreach programme and also contribute to movement’s building fund. For the past 24 years, The Love Movement has shared a government property with another non governmental organisation (NGO), but now has to secure its own facility due to the growth and success of the youth outreach programme.

The Love Movement founded in 1972 is a registered charitable organisation which has outgrown the conventional confines of a choir, to become a unique outfit with a life-changing mentoring programme among the country’s at-risk youth. For the past 42 years it has staged more than 120, highly-acclaimed productions.

The concerts showcase the talents of those young people and give them the opportunity to experience a level of achievement and self-worth. More significantly, they grow up acquiring an understanding of the importance of hard work, commitment and self-sacrifice.

These children and youth come from more than 50 primary and 25 secondary schools and many of them are from underprivileged homes or live in institutions.

The concerts will run from June 8 through June 15. There will be evening shows at 8 pm from Thursday to Saturday, with matinee shows on both Sundays at 6 pm.

• Tickets costs $175 on June 12, and $250 on Jun 8, 13, 14 and 15. All seats are reserved. For more info: 346-5683 or todiean@gmail.com
