Some star acts are due to perform at De Nu Pub for the next few days. The musical treat begins tonight with another instalment of Caribbean Night, featuring Pelham Goddard & Roots. What makes tonight’s show special is that its special guest artiste will be world-renowned pannist Robert Greenidge, intransit to his California home in the US after performing with David Rudder last weekend at St Lucia Jazz Festival. Showtime tonight is 8.30 pm.

Greenidge, who plays for the Jimmy Buffet group, and has worked with the late Grammy Award winner Ralph Mac Donald, is the arranger of Desperadoes Steel Orchestra. His arrangements have won the Laventille Hill steelband multiple National Panorama titles. This year’s arrangement of Hammer Time earned the band a finalist spot in the competition.
The other big show at the popular Woodbrook showplace is its May 22 The Monarchs Sing production. Scheduled to begin at 8.30 pm, this show is headlined by the Mighty Sparrow and Black Stalin. These two living legends of calypso share 13 National Calypso Monarch titles between them so patrons are guaranteed of a stellar performance.

Resident in New York, Sparrow has been performing worldwide extensively, while Stalin voiced this year’s winning National Panorama selection – More Love – for composer/Phase II Pan Groove arranger Len “Boogsie” Sharpe. Reserved seating for both events can be made by calling Roderick Ward (878 8698)
