Kabir Bedi, the Bollywood star known best for his villainous role as Gobinda in the James Bond movie Octopussy, is in Trinidad.
Bedi arrived in T&T on Friday evening for the filming of Scandalous, starring Machel Montano.
Filming on the movie is scheduled to begin on December 15 and shooting will take place in Trinidad, as well as Tobago, before production breaks for the Christmas holiday.
Bedi will portray Ram Panchourie, a deep-in-debt businessman, whose daughter Anita, played by British actress Natalie Perera, falls in love with Montano’s character, Lee De Leon, a romantic musician.
An internationally-acclaimed actor, Bedi has acted in over 60 Bollywood films and has hits such as Khoon Bjari Maang, Kurbaan, and Main Hoon Na. He is well-recognised for his role as Emperor Shah Jahan in Taj Mahal: An Eternal Love Story.
Bedi’s career spans film, theatre and television. He has appeared on the hit Italian pirate series Sandokan, the saga of a romantic Asian pirate during British colonial times; an Italian-German-French TV series which broke viewership records across Europe and did a year-long stint on the popular soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful.
He has also appeared on London’s West End with The Far Pavillions.
In India, where he resides, Bedi presents a weekly award-winning documentary series Guns and Glory: The Indian Soldier and Vandemataram, for India’s news channels—Headlines Today and Aaj Tak.
