On November 22, the Queen’s Park Cricket Club (QPCC) celebrated its second annual Christmas Tree Lighting and Parang Lime. Children frolicked in the fun playground with no care to the overcast skies as they enjoyed bouncy castles and interactive games. Santa was seen taking candid pictures and talking to each boy and girl, making sure they have been nice throughout the year.
Thanks to generous sponsors’ contributions, the children were treated to food, snacks, drinks and gift bags filled with trinkets for their delight.
Close to dusk, the children were invited to hang small ornaments on the lower branches of the freshly-cut 30-foot tree.
QPCC CEO Richard Mowser and club president Deryck Murray welcomed members, family and friends and reflected on the true meaning of Christmas.
The tree was lit and the crowd looked on in amazement, their eyes glimmering, reflective of what was seen.
The Oval Teen Pan Side, St Theresa’s Choir, Carib Santa Rosa Parang, Kenny J, H20 Phlo and Baron entertained patrons as they danced the night away under the twinkling of the Christmas tree lights.
The lighting of the tree signifies hope, happiness and safety and will be lit for the duration of the holiday season.
