This year’s edition of Green Screen will feature two screenings in south Trinidad. Now in its fourth year, the Environmental Film Series shows free movies about green issues in communities around T&T. This year, the Point Fortin Library and the San Fernando Hill Recreation Centre will be the southern venues for the series, with the hard-hitting documentaries, Bitter Seeds and Bhopali, a release said.
Bitter Seeds will show on November 1 at the Point Fortin Library, at 7 pm. The hard-hitting doc focuses on a farmer in India who is struggling to keep his land, and raises questions about the human cost of genetically-modified agriculture and the future of how we grow things.
Bhopali will be the main feature at San Fernando Hill on November 6. It tells the story of the world’s worst industrial disaster, the 1984 Union Carbide gas leak which devastated and contaminated Bhopal, India. Today the suffering continues, prompting victims to fight for justice and corporate responsibility, which has long been ignored. Green Screen continues with free screenings of some 27 feature films, documentaries, shorts, videos and animated movies at the Teaching and Learning Complex at UWI, St Augustine and Medulla Art Gallery in Woodbrook.
