The Parent Teacher Association of Holy Name Convent (HNC) is getting its groove on as it hosts Disco Inferno, at The Anchorage, Chaguaramas, on October 18.

The party, which welcomes all Back in Times party lovers and especially all past students of HNC to be part of the swinging event, will have the distinct mood and vibe of parties from the 60s, 70s and 80s. The ambience will bring back the disco era when Abba, the Bee Gees, KC and the Sunshine Band and Chic reigned supreme on the dance charts.

A release said, “The music will bring smiles and memorable lyrics as DJ Rene spins classics like Double Dutch Bus by Frankie Smith and Hortense Ellis and Clint Eastwood’s Which Way You Going Natty on the turntable.”

To add flavour to the event, patrons are asked to wear their funkiest retro outfit—bell-bottoms, afros, go-go boots and platforms, or a la John Travolta when he starred in Saturday Night Fever. Tracey Hoford (nee Dasent), president of the PTA said, “We’re anticipating an exciting fun-filled event...get your friends together and come party like we used to. We’ve even secured prizes for the best outfits both male and female and best retro dance moves—first, second and third place—get your friends together and come join us.”

Disco Inferno is the ideal opportunity for a class reunion, regardless of year. The PTA has even given the nod to giving a prize to the biggest HNC past pupil group arriving in costume. To top it off—the event is for a great cause—proceeds from the event will go to the school to help defray costs for the construction of additional classrooms, an upgrade of the computer and science labs as well as the provision of additional student support services.

As part of the promotion HNC alumni are invited to visit the FB page and send in their “back in the day” pics.

Tickets are available at the school and from committee members at the following numbers: 498-8978, 620-6466, 299-6534, 753-5809.
