Club Prosperity at Upper Bournes Road, St James, has been a staple for partygoers in the West, especially for those in the dancehall and reggae fraternity.

Founded in 1979 as a small recreational club by Errol Sealy, known in the St James community as “Daddy Bull,” the venue eventually grew to be the home of the reggae and conscious music.

Club Prosperity has featured Jamaica’s finest artistes, including Terry Ganzi, Anthony B, Jah Cure, Jah Mason, King Kong, Determine, Courtney Melody, and Admiral Tibet.

It has been the home also of popular local calyponsians, including SuperBlue, Baron and the late Lord Blakie.

Sealy died in 2009 and the club passed on to his daughters Denise and Samantha Reyes.

Club Prosperity has been renovated and has a fully tiled hall area and can now accommodate 500 patrons. A part of the re-launch of the showplace is its Passion Friday which kicks off on May 31 and continues every Friday.

Women are free all night and live artistes will be joined by guest DJ Lion Twin.

Passion Fridays will feature dancehall, hip-hop, soca and reggae.

Reggae Sunday is also scheduled to premiere at Club Prosperity on June 2.
