The 24th Annual Festival of Carols takes place tomorrow at the Lion’s Cultural Centre, Fitz Blackman Drive, Woodbrook from 10 am to 1 pm.
Hosted by the Lions Club of Port-of-Spain Central, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, the Festival features performances by ten selected primary school choirs from Port-of-Spain and its environs.
A release from the organisers said each choir will sing two Christmas songs, one of which must be a traditional carol. The Lion’s Club of Port-of-Spain Central provides participating choirs with refreshments, a Certificate of Appreciation and a voucher towards the purchase of musical instruments for the school.
The Festival is open to the public, with admission at $5 (Children) and $20 (Adults). TTARP members with ID will be charged $15.
The Lion’s Club of Port-of-Spain Central was chartered on May 22, 1962 and is the oldest Lion’s club operating in T&T. Its mission is to empower volunteers to serve their communities, meet humanitarian needs, encourage peace and promote international understanding through Lions clubs.
Members of the Festival of Carols Committee are Derick Legall (chairperson), Derek Comissiong, Joy Dillon, Hammond Furlonge, Arlene Gomes, Dalven Harris, Sharon Harvey-Samuel, Siddiq Scoon and Cathy Shepherd.
