The Archbishop and the Prime Minister—a production by Ralph Maraj, is a “hard-hitting and hilarious political satire that takes no partisan political sides but explores the political culture of T&T,” according to a release from the producer. The play will be staged at National Academy for the Performing Arts (NAPA), South on September 6 and 7 at 7.30 pm and Sunday 8, at 5.30 pm.
In the play the country’s Archbishop is moved by genuine concern for his society and steps out of his crease to speak with conviction on issues plaguing the society.

He runs afoul of the Prime Minister who must take steps to stop the Archbishop whose sermons and statements resonate with a wide cross section of the society, deepening the discontent of the nation. The conflict between these two leaders is at the heart of the conflict in this drama, and it is all happening with a general election approaching. Maraj takes the role of prime minister while Hubert Ramlal plays the archbishop.

Tickets go on sale at Nigel R Khan in Gulf City and Price Plaza and can be booked by calling 657-1086.
